This work is for every parent who has felt overwhelmed and exhausted by everything they do, and yet still worry they’re not doing ‘enough’ which is basically every parent I know.
Energy management is the key to mobilising our four key sources of energy. Learning wisdom from nature (hibernating mammals, the ocean, migratory animals, the seasons) they all obey the balance of high energy expenditure with intermittent energy renewal.
We do this by creating the opportunity to adopt highly specific, positive energy management rituals, similar to how elite athletes train for prestigious events.
So let’s together carve a clearer road map in becoming more physically energised, emotionally connected, mentally focused, and spiritually aligned - both at work and at home.
It took me over a decade of delving into cutting-edge biology, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology and more, to finally appreciate why some people end up loving what they do, and somehow deriving great satisfaction from their work-life balance.
It seems it’s not just ‘luck’ but a combination of becoming intentional in how you break bad routines and make better ones.
Learning how to cultivate ‘deeper focus’ by minimising distractions on cognitive tasks, and a synthesis of cultural wisdom from behavioural psychologists in how to create optimal systems and habits that help us stay productive, motivated, and happy.
My contribution, I hope is to leverage my own collective insights as a science researcher and full time working single mother of 5 for 30 years, and share the ideas that matter most and connect them in a way that is highly actionable with the complexities and needs of family work-life integration.
Drawing upon my unique experience as a military nurse and longevity scientist, my aim is to deliver a high quality strategic and science-based approach to extending lifespan.
Why reforming our physical, cognitive, and emotional health should never be regarded as a guilty pleasure, but a necessary vehicle we all must navigate to achieve a long, happy healthspan.
Speaking as a mother of 5, who has a 19 year age-gap from my first son to my youngest daughter, it‘s crucial in how I re-frame my life span now.
Things like why exercise is the new potent pro-longevity ‘drug’, and focusing why nutritional biochemistry to personalise our eating patterns far outways ‘diets’ and why ignoring our emotional health could be the ultimate curse of all.
So let’s plot a new trajectory in our life, one that supports outliving outdated expectations and making each decade better than the one before, not just for us, but our whole family.
